Producer Ponniyin Selva on Tuesday announced the release date of Mani Ratnam's much-awaited sequel. It will be released in IMAX cinemas worldwide on April 28, 2023. According to Lyca Productions, cola is returning to the silver screen.

Manny Ratnam's magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan, is a film adaptation of author Kalki Krishnamurthy's Tamil novel of the same name, which was serialized in the 1950s. The cast of the historical drama includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Prabhu.
