Dubai: Burj Khalifa has announced the details of its New Year fireworks display

It was a great day, and he was going to set a new world record in the event

Dubai's Burj Khalifa - which wows the world every year at Christmas - promises another spectacular extravaganza in 2023: a light show that will set a new world record.

The world's tallest building and the emirate's night sky will be lit up with spectacular lights in what is expected to be the "world's largest laser display", architects Emaar announced on Thursday.

According to a senior representative of the company, the Emaar event will not only attract visitors to the Dubai hub, but will also attract an estimated 1 billion viewers worldwide.

The 828-metre Burj Khalifa will also be the center of a state-of-the-art laser show, which will see light beams travel "the longest distance ever recorded".

According to Emaar, the goal behind the master plan is to transform the blue building into a beacon of hope, happiness and harmony for the coming year.

Of course, NYE at the Burj Khalifa wouldn't be complete without twinkling in the sky - so a spectacular fireworks display is still part of the mega plan.

Since 2010, the famous pyrotechnic display has been an integral part of the world famous Christmas celebrations in the UAE, and 2022 will be no exception.

The stunning and synchronized display of the Dubai Fountain at the foot of the Burj Khalifa is sure to delight the audience in what will be an all-round spectacular evening.

Emaar is expected to release more information about the Christmas celebrations closer to the event.
